Redlands United 100 Years History

RUFC is one of the oldest football clubs in Australia.

Founded in 1918, the club initially played its games on a field at Cleveland Point before it moved to the Showgrounds in the ’60s. The club quickly became the heart of the Redlands community and has grown to become the largest participation club in the district. Down through the years, the club has achieved success both on and off the park, winning countless titles and providing support for numerous local families along the way.

Mateship and charity have always been the core of the club. Our recent history has seen the club move towards the top of Australian football. In 2012, RUFC had one of their best ever seasons, winning the Brisbane Premier League.

Following on from this success, 2013 saw the club enter the newly formed National Premier Leagues competition. 2016 was a stellar season for the club, where they defeated the reigning A-League Champions Adelaide United in the latter rounds of the FFA Cup, and won the National Premier Leagues (Qld) Grand Final.

The next 100 years will see the club move to the next level.  Hopefully entering the 2nd tier of the A-League. Whatever level RUFC gets to, its roots will remain in Cleveland and it will always be the Heart of the Redlands.
