Redlands United get their second win

Redlands United have secured their second win of the season with a 5-1 victory over Sunshine Coast FC Fire on Sunday afternoon.

It was set to be an interesting between the two sides with Sunshine Coast looking to forget their 15-1 loss to Western Pride last weekend while Redlands were looking to find their second clean sheet of the season.

Redlands were missing midfielder Scott Sargent after his hamstring injury forced him from the field in their loss to Brisbane Roar Youth last week.

Redlands opened the scoring within the first two minutes of the match after a defensive error for Sunshine Coast saw them gift Shuto Kuboyama the ball as he smashed the ball into the goal.

Sunshine Coast struggled throughout the game to stop the attack on their defence and they were able to get a few shots on target, one which came dangerously close to going in but defender Lloyd Harrington kept it out with a goal line save.

Alex Warrilow bagged his first goal of the season with a 25-yard screamer before Jayden Prasad grabbed his second in two games.

Warrilow didn't just leave it at one goal as 10 minutes later he got on the end of a through ball.

Sunshine Coast once again had their chances with Christopher Swain trying his luck but to no avail.

Redlands finished the first half with a fifth goal as a cross into the box from Prasad saw Graham Fyfe stick a foot out to nudge it home.

Sunshine Coast came out stronger in the second half but it was Redlands who had the better of the opening chances in the half.

Redlands had the chance to extend their lead further in the opening minutes of the game after Kuboyama was left unmarked in the box but was unable to put it on the right side of the goal.

Sunshine Coast bared down on the Redlands defence and their goal with Swain and Matthew Sanchez both having good chances to try and get one back but Andrew Ralph pulled off some brilliant saves.

Daniel Hyde, despite conceding 20 goals in two games, helped to keep his side from seeing double digits again.

Prasad had the chance to extend the lead after Harrington went down in the box but he pushed it wide with Hyde also picking the wrong side to dive to.

However, Redlands weren't able to keep a clean sheet after a controversial free kick was awarded to Sunshine Coast with drilling it under the wall into the bottom corner.

Redlands travel to CTM Stadium on Saturday night to face Brisbane City before they are back at the Cleveland Showgrounds the following Friday against Brisbane Strikers.
