Redlands go down to Lions

Redlands United have gone down 3-0 to Lions FC in Round 13 of the National Premier League Queensland on Saturday night.

The Lions were hunting their sixth straight win of the season, which would see them keep their spot in the top four, and have their sixth clean sheet of the 2018 season.

The game started at slowly with Lions FC had the better chances of the opening minutes but they were unable to take advantage of their chances.

However, after so much defending Lions were able to find their breakthrough in the 39th minute with a goal from Jason Macuace which saw them go into halftime ahead.

Redlands came out in the second half with fire and were looking to score early but Lions goalkeeper Luke Borean pulled off a fantastic double save to deny Redlands the chance to level the scores.

Redlands attack continued to pile on the pressure as they forced Borean to pull off another spectacular save from a freekick as the ball came off his fingers tips to keep Lions ahead.

Not long after, Lions doubled their lead with a controversial goal from former Brisbane Roar forward Jean Carlos Solórzano.

Redlands, who had momentum going their way, kicked the ball out of play after Solórzano went down with an injury before he strangely delayed his return to the pitch and when he returned to the pitch he just took the ball.

Lions made it 3-0 15 minutes later as Carter Glockner made a great run in behind the defence before rounding the keeper and smashing it into the bottom corner.

Redlands are away from home for the next three weeks with a trip to Moreton Bay United on the cards next weekend.
