REDLANDS THROUGH TO NEXT ROUND OF FFA CUP
Redlands United played their second game in 4 days last Wednesday evening when they hosted AC Carina in the rounds of the 2019 FFA Cup.
Despite the 8-0 score line and the obvious difference in level, the visitors never gave up and fought on and made the Red Devil's work for their victory.
Three first half goals to striker Shuto Kuboyama, set the Red Devils on the path to victory. Right on the brink of half time Rob Kramer scored his first goal for Redlands to send the home side into the break 4-0 up.
The second half produced much of the same, with AC Carina looking to threaten on the counter attack as Redlands continued to mount the pressure.
New recruit Kado Aoci produced the goods scoring two second half goals and unlucky not to have made it three always a danger for the AC Carina defence.
Fernando Perez and Murello Gomez rounded out the 2nd half scoring for Redlands.
The game was a good confidence builder for the Red Devils ahead of Saturdays clash with powerhouse and current NPL competition leaders Peninsula Power.
Redlands United’s Assistant Coach Nick Dibbs was pleased with the win, “Got to be pleased with the win, it was a case of get in get the win, get out, all with an eye on this weekend’s game against Peninsula Power. It was good to be in a decent position at half time to be able to make changes and rest some players and try a few things. We have a few injuries so we have to be careful with how we manage these sort of games over tight 7 day timeframes. All respect to Carina they came to give us a game and were well in it for the first 20 minutes. All in all I’m pleased with the result, it was a game we had to win and lads did well.”
Easter weekend the Red Devils take the trip down the M1 to Tallebudgera on Easter Monday to take on Gold Coast United in Round 12 of the National Premier Leagues. The Red Devils kick off at 7pm with the Under 20’s at 5pm and the Under 18s at 1pm.
Earlier in the evening Redlands Uniteds’ Women’s Legends got the night off to a great start with their first home game for 2019, against top of the table University of Queensland, resulting in a stunning 4-3 victory.
