New Club Technical Director - Graham Harvey

Redlands United are delighted to announce the appointment of Graham Harvey as our new Club Technical Director.

Graham is one of the most respected coaches in the game in Australia. His passion for youth development is phenomenal and he has demonstrated that his approach pays off, winning the NPL in 2017 with a very young squad.

His role at the club will be to make us the #1 youth development club in Australia, creating opportunities for young players to make a career from football.

We are incredibly excited for all of our young players as they now have the best in the business looking after them.

Having spent the last season with Eastern Long Lions in the Hong Kong Premier League, we asked Graham why he was coming to Redlands United;

"When I was approached by the board to discuss their vision for the club I was very impressed, as they have a clear focus on developing a club philosophy and playing style that is implemented throughout all age groups to bring a more holistic approach to the football program. The other factor that resonated with me was the loyalty offered to players who are already part of our football community which I believe is something to be proud of.

A little background on myself in order to give some perspective to my relevant football experiences both as a player and coach. Last season I worked as First Team Coach for Eastern Long Lions in the Hong Kong Premier League which has given me a wonderful insight into Asian football, a market that I feel will become more and more prevalent to Australia. Before this I was Head Coach at Western Pride for three seasons in the Queensland NPL where in 2017 the team were champions (with no player older than twenty three).

I have an extensive knowledge of the football landscape in South East Queensland having also worked at the Brisbane Strikers as First Team Coach, as well as being Head Coach of the Whitsunday Miners in the old Queensland State League. My experience is not limited to Australia or senior mens football. I have worked in the UK professional system as academy coach at Rotherham United and Notts County as well as holding the position Head of Education for Loughborough University where I delivered the BTEC Program in conjunction with the Premier League for academy players at Leicester City and Derby County.

I hold an AFC ‘A’ License and have currently completed two out of five parts of my AFC Pro Diploma with Football Association of Malaysia. My academic education has seen me complete a Bachelors degree in Sports Science, a Graduate Diploma of Eduction and a Masters in Sports Coaching.

My approach to coaching is constructivist I believe that the player should be an active participant in their journey. I do not subscribe to the notion that the coach has all of the knowledge and must impart this to the players, it is a dynamic process. As such I will be working closely with the coaches of all teams at the club in order to assist them, as we look to build an environment that allows players to develop at their own rate and most of all, enjoy the game"
