Redlands United travelled the short distance over to Heath Park at East Brisbane last Saturday evening for their final National Premier League game for 2019 against Eastern Suburbs.
Despite having a weakened squad the Red Devils were looking to end their season on a high note.
Things did not get off to a great start as the hosts came out all guns blazing and scored 2 quick goals Preston Hugo after 20 minutes and Jordan Farina almost immediately after in the 22nd minute.
Redlands went into the half time break down 2-0 but not out of the game.
After the break the Red Devils determination paid off when Jackson Hart-Phillips relishing a role further up field, scored his 1st goal of the season in the 51st minute, firing in from just short of 20 meters out.
The goal lifted the Red Devils who continued to pressure the Easts side right across the park.
Redlands Goalkeeper Jack Richards continued to impress making a couple of point blank goal-line saves to keep Easts at bay.
Almost immediately up the other end Igor Sao Jose had the opportunity to equalize for the Red Devils when he was played through on goal by Kado Aoci and Shuto Kuboyama, but unfortunately his shot hit the crossbar.
The equalizer came in the 82nd minute when Hart-Phillips superbly placed cross found Kuboyama unmarked at the far post who calmly evaded 2 approaching defenders to slot his shot into the far corner of the goal.
The final 10 minutes of the game seemed to go from end to end as both teams pushed for the equalizer.
As the full time whistle sounded it was a 2 all draw which seemed a far result for both teams.
