Update on SEQ Fixtures

Football Queensland has today confirmed the further postponement of junior and senior fixtures in parts of South East Queensland (SEQ) due to the ongoing impacts of flooding.

The extended postponement includes all fixtures and carnivals scheduled to be played between 7 March and 13 March in the Metro North and South and Sunshine Coast regions.

Clubs in the South Coast, Darling Downs and Wide Bay regions will be able to resume junior and senior training sessions and fixtures from the week beginning Monday, 7 March. FQ will be in contact directly with South Coast, Darling Downs and Wide Bay clubs regarding the scheduling of fixtures.

Clubs in the Metro North and South and Sunshine Coast regions who have not been impacted by flooding are permitted to resume training only from Monday 7 March, only if it is safe to do so and permitted by your local government or council authority.

With further significant weather events forecast and many roads remaining flooded, closed or unsafe across Metro North and South and the Sunshine Coast, Football Queensland will not be sanctioning any trial or practice matches between clubs in these regions during the current postponement period.

Clubs across South East Queensland who have been impacted are encouraged to visit Football Queensland’s Flood Support Hub for further information on relevant funding that they may be eligible for. Football Queensland continues to assess and assemble information detailing the damage across club infrastructure that will inform how FQ will progress with competitions and fixtures, as well as form the basis for ongoing discussions with government regarding assistance.

Football Queensland will be in contact directly with all affected clubs regarding the rescheduling of fixtures and will continue to keep all clubs and participants updated on any further changes.

Please note, at the time of writing, Football Queensland’s Head Office at Meakin Park remains under two metres of flood waters and is inaccessible. Football Queensland has sustained heavy losses and damage and requests your consideration at this time as our priority and focus is on the recovery of our clubs, participants and volunteers who have lost so much more.

Football will return.
